Ermanno Antonacci charged in rather forcefully in the 5th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ermanno Antonacci the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 5th minute, Ermanno Antonacci hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Enrico Dossena in the 7th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ettore Di Cicco saved Riccione from getting behind. Antonio Zinni recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cristiano Tassotti kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. In the 16th minute, Arrigo Teodori hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th match minute, Sesto San Giovanni AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Edmondo Dorigatti to maneuver through the defense. If Fabiano Contestabile had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 24 played minutes Riccione got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Zinni. Antonio Zinni received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Attilio Bozzo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabiano Contestabile sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabiano Contestabile might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Attilio Bozzo. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabiano Contestabile ran back to his position shaking his head. If Antonio Zinni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Attilio Bozzo managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Riccione's Fabiano Contestabile fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. A collision led to Sesto San Giovanni AFC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Ermanno De Vincentis hit a great ball. Fabiano Contestabile sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The wind increased when Antonio Zinni made the kick off in the second half. Enrico Dossena could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Ettore Di Cicco made a huge save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrico Dossena got free with Ettore Di Cicco in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Fabiano Contestabile fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Attilio Bozzo having to interfere. Fabiano Contestabile's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Attilio Bozzo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Enrico Dossena could shoot a difficult shot in the 69th minute, which Ettore Di Cicco however easily saved by the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristiano Tassotti in the 70th minute of play forced Riccione's goalkeeper Ettore Di Cicco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ermanno Antonacci kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Fabiano Contestabile took the ball and in the 78 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Attilio Bozzo. Attilio Bozzo dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Fabiano Contestabile recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fabiano Contestabile received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Attilio Bozzo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Enrico Dossena could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 93rd minute of the match, but Ettore Di Cicco made a huge save. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Riccione fully deserved thier win.
