The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Fulvio De Rossi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Attilio Bozzo having to interfere. Cristiano Di Sante didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Enrico Dossena went, in the 8th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. But to his dismay, Ermanno De Vincentis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. In the 31st minute Enrico Vespucci shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Attilio Bozzo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Enrico Dossena kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. 34 minutes into the game, Cristiano Del Papa was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Farneto AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sesto San Giovanni AFC the free kick. In the 35th match minute, Farneto AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cristiano Del Papa to maneuver through the defense. Cristiano Tassotti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Damiano Valcareggi hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. When Cristiano Tassotti fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sesto San Giovanni AFC's protests and gave Cristiano Tassotti a yellow card for diving instead. Attilio Bozzo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Enrico Vespucci in the 44th minute of the match. Cristiano Di Sante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Enrico Dossena in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-4.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Enrico Vespucci made a kick off. Cristiano Tassotti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 54th minute, Cristiano Del Papa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ernesto Pietrangelo charged in rather forcefully in the 63rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, Farneto AFC's Ernesto Pietrangelo got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Cristiano Tassotti struck a weak shot in the 65th minute. Cristiano Di Sante didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sesto San Giovanni AFC. Fulvio De Rossi recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 70th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Enrico Dossena got free with Cristiano Di Sante in the 77th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Fulvio De Rossi came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Farneto AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fulvio De Rossi couldn't finish the play. If Cristiano Tassotti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Fulvio Russi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The Sesto San Giovanni AFC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sesto San Giovanni AFC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
