The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Comunardo Vago helped the player get up and apologised. Ercole Carlini showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Pittelli in the 13th minute of the match. Frank Cardano might have been able to make a better finish in the 14th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ercole Carlini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Frank Cardano ran back to his position shaking his head. Ernesto Pittelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ercole Carlini having to interfere. After 25 minutes, Demetrio Giacchetti mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Veveri and the Mantova players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Mantova booed when Veveri was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Demetrio Giacchetti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ernesto Pittelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Ercole Carlini tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute Demetrio Giacchetti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmondo Avesani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ercole Carlini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Pittelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Alberigo Barillari recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Demetrio Giacchetti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ercole Carlini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ernesto Pittelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 45th minute Demetrio Giacchetti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmondo Avesani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 47th minute, one of Mantova:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Mantova. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ernesto Pittelli to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ernesto Pittelli in the 56th minute of play forced Veveri's goalkeeper Ercole Carlini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Ernesto Pittelli managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mantova's supporters rose to their feet, but Ernesto Pittelli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ercole Carlini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alberigo Barillari struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Edmondo Avesani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Veveri. A collision led to Mantova getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Adriano Colombi hit a great ball. If Comunardo Vago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberigo Barillari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Edmondo Avesani tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Fortunato Mosca had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Cardano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ercole Carlini stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ernesto Pittelli's shot from short distance in the 84th minute. Ernesto Pittelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ercole Carlini read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Cardano got free with Ercole Carlini in the 87th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Demetrio Giacchetti struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Edmondo Avesani didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Veveri. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberigo Barillari in the 96th minute of play forced Mantova's goalkeeper Edmondo Avesani to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmondo Avesani came out of the goal in the 100th minute to try and stop a shot by Veveri's Bianco Grieco. But to his dismay, Bianco Grieco quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. For all the effort they put into the match, the Mantova players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Veveri.
