The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th minute Edoardo Rubini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Berardino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of San Lazzaro FC booed when Modolena FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Nasuti didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alberigo Lauria charged in rather forcefully in the 16th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberigo Lauria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Modolena FC booed when San Lazzaro FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alberigo Lauria didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 17th minute, Attilio Uguccioni got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The attack was good, but when Attilio Uguccioni in the 27th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Fabio Pompilio was extremely unlucky when he, in the 29th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Biagio Pietrangelo kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. San Lazzaro FC's Alberigo Lauria got his second yellow card of the match in the 33rd minute. The referee ordered Alberigo Lauria off the ground. In the 34th minute, Alberigo Lauria hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 35 played minutes, Modolena FC's Carlo Tarquini shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Franco Di Berardino came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Modolena FC reached it. Biagio Pietrangelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 39th minute, Cosimo Falcioni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Modolena FC's Fabiano Gaudino got a free kick in the 41st minute. Biagio Pietrangelo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Modolena FC defense, Biagio Pietrangelo kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Losito. The Modolena FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Losito should have stopped the shot. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Biagio Pietrangelo made a kick off. Alex Losito made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Biagio Pietrangelo in the 53rd minute of play. Alex Losito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Biagio Pietrangelo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 61 minutes, Edoardo Rubini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Modolena FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edoardo Rubini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Attilio Uguccioni in the 64th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Franco Di Berardino saved San Lazzaro FC from getting behind. Edoardo Rubini received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 69th minute. Franco Di Berardino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edoardo Lucidi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fabio Pompilio hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute Attilio Uguccioni shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franco Di Berardino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 81 minutes into the match, San Lazzaro FC's goalkeeper Franco Di Berardino had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edoardo Rubini. After having played for 83 minutes, Edoardo Rubini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Modolena FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edoardo Rubini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Franco Di Berardino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Attilio Uguccioni, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. 87 minutes into the match, Attilio Uguccioni dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Franco Di Berardino, 1-1. If Biagio Pietrangelo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Edoardo Lucidi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Losito having to interfere. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
