Attilio Lorenzi showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. 8 minutes into the game, Dave Ottavi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pontedecimo FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montecodruzzo AFC the free kick. Attilio Lorenzi charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Attilio Lorenzi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Montecodruzzo AFC's Attilio Lorenzi got a free kick in the 11th minute. If Dino Orecchioni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francesco Miccoli in the 19th minute of play forced Pontedecimo FC's goalkeeper Concetto Masetti to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Montecodruzzo AFC booed when Pontedecimo FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Massaro didn't get a good kick on the ball. 21 minutes into the match, Montecodruzzo AFC's Fortunato Bravo broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. A collision led to Pontedecimo FC getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Dave Ottavi hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Attilio Profeta got free with Concetto Masetti in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Dave Russi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 45th minute, Dave Russi got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Francesco Miccoli to strike the kick off in the second half. Dino Orecchioni's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Enzo Sciascia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Francesco Miccoli left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montecodruzzo AFC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. After having played for 58 minutes, Attilio Profeta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Montecodruzzo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Attilio Profeta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Pontedecimo FC's Enzo Sciascia threw himself towards the right post 76 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dave Russi, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. A collision led to Montecodruzzo AFC getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. Attilio Lorenzi hit a great ball. After 78 played minutes Montecodruzzo AFC got a freekick which was hit by Attilio Lorenzi. Enzo Sciascia made a fantastic save in the 85th minute, when Dino Orecchioni sent off a good shot on target. After a defensive mix-up in Montecodruzzo AFC's zone, Dave Russi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Enzo Sciascia came out of the goal and Dave Russi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 91 minutes into the match, Montecodruzzo AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Dave Russi came free, but Enzo Sciascia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. For all the effort they put into the match, the Pontedecimo FC players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Montecodruzzo AFC.
