Sarzano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grignano Polesine the free kick. A collision led to Sarzano getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. The supporters of Sarzano booed when Grignano Polesine was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franco Di Cola didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dave Domenici blasted a shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alvise Ferraris having to make a save. An unexpected shot in the 38th minute by Dave Domenici got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 39th match minute, Grignano Polesine was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Comunardo Cesarini to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Amos Bearzot got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Grignano Polesine booed when Sarzano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Comunardo Petrucci didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Federico Perazzolo was the one to do the kick off. Arturo Di Fiore was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Amos Bearzot showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 51 minute of play. Concetto Verdini blasted a shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Arturo Di Fiore having to make a save. Camillo Petrella got his second yellow card in the match during the 66th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Alvise Ferraris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Federico Perazzolo, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Sarzano's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
