The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 2 minutes, Franco Santovito mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cast Anselmo AFC and the San Peretto AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Franco Santovito hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. If Dennis Tiberio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7 minutes into the match, Felice Gaudino had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alvise Castagna. Cast Anselmo AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Felice Gaudino was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Dennis Tiberio might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alvise Castagna. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dennis Tiberio ran back to his position shaking his head. Cosimo Di Monte hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Alvaro Angelucci received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Franco Caroselli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dennis Tiberio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arrigo Pelusi charged in rather forcefully in the 27th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arrigo Pelusi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 27 played minutes Cast Anselmo AFC got a freekick which was hit by Arrigo Pelusi. Cast Anselmo AFC's Alvise Castagna played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Tiberio in the 29th minute of play. After having played for 33 minutes, Alvaro Angelucci managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cast Anselmo AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alvaro Angelucci was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Beppe Porcu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 42 minutes into the match, Cast Anselmo AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Beppe Porcu came free, but Alvise Castagna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alvise Castagna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Beppe Porcu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dennis Tiberio in the 47th minute of play forced Cast Anselmo AFC's goalkeeper Alvise Castagna to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half San Peretto AFC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

If Dennis Tiberio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 58 played minutes Cast Anselmo AFC got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Pasinati. An unexpectedly hard shot by Franco Santovito in the 62nd minute of play forced San Peretto AFC's goalkeeper Franco Caroselli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Cast Anselmo AFC booed when San Peretto AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felice Gaudino didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 69th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cast Anselmo AFC's goalkeeper Alvise Castagna, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Felice Gaudino kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. If Franco Santovito had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Alvaro Angelucci came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Cast Anselmo AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alvaro Angelucci couldn't finish the play. 78 minutes into the game, Ennio Formaggio was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. San Peretto AFC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cast Anselmo AFC the free kick. A collision led to San Peretto AFC getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Ennio Formaggio hit a great ball. In the 79th minute of the match Eraldo Granati sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Franco Caroselli skillfully saved the ball. Alvaro Angelucci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Beppe Porcu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Beppe Porcu scored 0-2 in the 93rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Alvise Castagna, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched San Peretto AFC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
