The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Antonello Faieta managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cantalice's supporters rose to their feet, but Antonello Faieta was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adriano Pantani breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 5th minute Bernardo Scalia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adriano Pantani saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 10 minutes into the match, Cantalice's goal looked a bit too open when Ferruccio Coscarella came free, but Armando Di Meo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Bernardo Scalia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ferdinando Marra kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. Corrado Stragapede fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Di Meo having to interfere. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bernardo Scalia made a kick off. In the 53rd minute Cristiano Negri shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Armando Di Meo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Adriano Pantani made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Domenico Sciarra sent off a good shot on target. Cantalice's Armando Di Meo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ferruccio Coscarella in the 68th minute of play. If Corrado Stragapede had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 69th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 71st minute, Ferruccio Coscarella made a precise shot to the right of Armando Di Meo. Cantalice's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Bernardo Scalia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 99th match minute, Cantalice was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonello Faieta to maneuver through the defense.
