The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Ciccio Fallito sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 10th minute Anselmo Porro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrea Conte saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Gerno FC's zone, Anselmo Porro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrea Conte came out of the goal and Anselmo Porro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Andrea Conte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davide Circelli in the 15th minute of play. Augusto Giuliani hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A collision led to Gerno FC getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Fabrizio Luciano hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in Borghetti AFC's zone, Edoardo Maio stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emiliano Maia came out of the goal and Edoardo Maio tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fulvio Silvi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gerno FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fulvio Silvi was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anselmo Porro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edoardo Maio could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 44th minute of the match, but Emiliano Maia made a huge save. Fulvio Silvi received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Emiliano Maia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Fulvio Silvi reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Emiliano Maia. The goal made the score 1-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Edoardo Maio in the 54th minute of play forced Borghetti AFC's goalkeeper Emiliano Maia to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th match minute, Borghetti AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alvise Crognale to maneuver through the defense. Fulvio Silvi scored 2-1 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Emiliano Maia, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Davide Circelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Edoardo Maio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dennis Bellone charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee ignored Borghetti AFC's protests and gave Amerigo Marziali a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Gerno FC booed when Borghetti AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amerigo Marziali didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Gerno FC's Amedeo Canzano tried to score from far away in the 86th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 90 minutes into the match, Fulvio Silvi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emiliano Maia. Borghetti AFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fulvio Silvi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-1. Gerno FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
