The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alessandro Rossi got free with Ferdinando Polimeno in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 35th minute Fabiano Scacchi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ferdinando Polimeno saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alex Gentili showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Eraldo Ottaviani in the 39th minute of the match. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Anselmo Battista made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Eraldo Ottaviani had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alex Gentili. Poggetto FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Eraldo Ottaviani was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Eraldo Ottaviani was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 60th minute. Gallarate AFC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. A well placed Anselmo Battista short distance shot in the 63rd minute ended with a hard ball which without a chance for the goalkeeper went staright up into the goalkeepers left cross. 67 minutes into the match, Gallarate AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabiano Scacchi came free, but Ferdinando Polimeno reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With his leg Alex Gentili managed to avoid a goal in the 68thth minute, when Gallarate AFC's Eraldo Ottaviani fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Alex Gentili stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Anselmo Battista's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Anselmo Battista received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 71st minute. Alex Gentili tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 74th minute of the match, Anselmo Battista tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Alex Gentili saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 79th match minute, Gallarate AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amos Pich to maneuver through the defense. After 95 minutes, Concetto Bruno mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poggetto FC and the Gallarate AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Concetto Bruno hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. When Eraldo Ottaviani came up free with the goalie in the 98th minute, the Gallarate AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eraldo Ottaviani couldn't finish the play. The Poggetto FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Gallarate AFC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
