Ciro Di Maria charged in rather forcefully in the 58th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ciro Di Maria the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. When Diego Guerrieri fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Arbizzano's protests and gave Diego Guerrieri a yellow card for diving instead. Alfredo Minati came out of the goal and Ferdinando Sansoni tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Arbizzano's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
