The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Trevignano booed when Santa Caterina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enzo Minichiello didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 16 minutes, Aurelio Boldrini mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Trevignano and the Santa Caterina players grew even worse after the yellow card. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Dave Massaro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Caterina's supporters rose to their feet, but Dave Massaro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ferdinando Rallo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 18th minute, Fortunato Macchia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Domenico Di Cicco showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arturo Odisio, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. The supporters of Trevignano booed when Santa Caterina was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bernardo Barone didn't get a good kick on the ball. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Fabio Bondi to strike the kick off in the second half. Dave Massaro's late challenge caught a Trevignano's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dave Massaro helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Santa Caterina's Dave Massaro got a free kick in the 55th minute. Domenico Di Cicco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabio Bondi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Santa Caterina's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
