Nervi's Dario Selvi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Comunardo Desiderio in the 6th minute of play. If Eugenio Olmi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 9th minute Eugenio Olmi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Selvi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 11 minutes into the match, Borgo Grotta Gigante's goalkeeper Andrea Del Nero had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Achille Catini. 14 minutes into the match, Nervi's goal looked a bit too open when Eugenio Olmi came free, but Dario Selvi reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Comunardo Desiderio blasted a shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dario Selvi having to make a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugenio Olmi in the 21st minute of play forced Nervi's goalkeeper Dario Selvi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Davide Ramundo was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 24th minute. Nervi's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Dario Selvi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eugenio Olmi, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Eugenio Olmi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dario Selvi made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Comunardo Desiderio in the 34th minute of play. Borgo Grotta Gigante's Andrea Del Nero played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Davide Ramundo in the 39th minute of play. Eugenio Olmi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dario Selvi having to interfere. Comunardo Desiderio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eugenio Olmi was the one to do the kick off. If Enrico Bravo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Andrea Del Nero took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davide Ramundo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 57th minute, Davide Ramundo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nervi's supporters rose to their feet, but Davide Ramundo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrea Del Nero breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Davide Ramundo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Achille Catini took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Andrea Del Nero. Andrea Del Nero dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. In the 66th minute Eugenio Olmi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Selvi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Aurelio Genovesi during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 69th minute, Aurelio Genovesi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 73 played minutes, Nervi's Fulvio Atroce shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Andrea Del Nero came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Nervi reached it. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 74th match minute, Borgo Grotta Gigante was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aurelio Genovesi to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Achille Catini in the 82nd minute of play forced Borgo Grotta Gigante's goalkeeper Andrea Del Nero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
