Saletta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlo Benarrivo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Camillo Bartolomucci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eraldo Torelli, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Camillo Bartolomucci showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlo Benarrivo in the 47th minute of the match. The Basilicanova players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Saletta were winning 0-3.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eraldo Torelli was the one to do the kick off. Camillo Bartolomucci made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eraldo Torelli in the 56th minute of play. Alberigo Adriano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carmine Vago having to interfere. After 60 played minutes Saletta got a freekick which was hit by Bernardo Molinaro. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Eraldo Torelli managed to get in a good position for a shot. Saletta's supporters rose to their feet, but Eraldo Torelli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Camillo Bartolomucci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Saletta had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
