After 2 played minutes San Damiano got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Giannotti. Arturo Dominici might have been able to make a better finish in the 5th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Arturo Apicella. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Arturo Dominici ran back to his position shaking his head. Borsano's Cristiano Albanesi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Grieco in the 9th minute of play. When Anselmo Di Giovanni fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored San Damiano's protests and gave Anselmo Di Giovanni a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of San Damiano booed when Borsano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arturo Dominici didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 14 minutes, Ercole Chizzo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the San Damiano and the Borsano players grew even worse after the yellow card. Borsano's Cristiano Albanesi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diego Grieco in the 22nd minute of play. Arturo Apicella took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Dominici, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Carlo Simeoni fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Borsano's protests and gave Carlo Simeoni a yellow card for diving instead. In the 29th minute, Carlo Simeoni hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Comunardo Di Fabio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Borsano getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Ennio Trombatore hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Comunardo Di Fabio in the 42nd minute of play forced Borsano's goalkeeper Cristiano Albanesi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Diego Grieco fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Albanesi having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 47th minute, Comunardo Di Fabio managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Damiano's supporters rose to their feet, but Comunardo Di Fabio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Cristiano Albanesi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Comunardo Di Fabio was the one to do the kick off. Diego Grieco struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Cristiano Albanesi didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Damiano. The audience thought a goal was coming when Diego Grieco got free with Cristiano Albanesi in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Carlo Simeoni hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. In the 61st minute Felice Tonon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arturo Apicella saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fortunato Clementi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Comunardo Di Fabio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cristiano Albanesi having to interfere. In the 68th match minute, Borsano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amerigo De Cristofaro to maneuver through the defense. Cristiano Albanesi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Diego Grieco in the 69th minute. After a rather tough play, Borsano's Carlo Simeoni got a free kick in the 70th minute. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Borsano's goalkeeper Cristiano Albanesi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Arturo Dominici recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 82 minutes into the game, Fortunato Clementi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. San Damiano's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Borsano the free kick. In the 82nd match minute, San Damiano was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fortunato Clementi to maneuver through the defense. Diego Grieco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Cristiano Albanesi tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diego Grieco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. San Damiano's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
