To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ferruccio Ciccarelli's late challenge caught a Magreta AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ferruccio Ciccarelli helped the player get up and apologised. When Fausto Fata came up free with the goalie in the 19th minute, the Magreta AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fausto Fata couldn't finish the play. If Diego Rulli had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavio Santoro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alfonso Buffone, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Diego Rulli made a kick off. Diego Rulli who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 54thth minute tested the skills of Flavio Santoro when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
