Augusto Di Marco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 25thth minute tested the skills of Adriano Sarnelli when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Fossoli FC's Eraldo Altobelli got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Sessant FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ernesto Santalucia came free, but Francesco Finocchio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Francesco Finocchio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ernesto Santalucia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sessant FC's Francesco Finocchio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eraldo Altobelli in the 44th minute of play. After the first half Fossoli FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Ernesto Santalucia came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Fossoli FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ernesto Santalucia couldn't finish the play. In the 56th match minute, Sessant FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emiliano Aureli to maneuver through the defense. Ettore Oddi's late challenge caught a Fossoli FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ettore Oddi helped the player get up and apologised. After 65 played minutes Sessant FC got a freekick which was hit by Emiliano Aureli. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Eraldo Altobelli managed to get in a good position for a shot. Fossoli FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Eraldo Altobelli was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Francesco Finocchio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sessant FC's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Ernesto Santalucia 77 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-2. Eraldo Altobelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francesco Finocchio having to interfere. Florian Marcolongo hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. If Ernesto Santalucia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eraldo Altobelli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 91st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Francesco Finocchio having to interfere.
