Augusto Ranieri charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Augusto Ranieri the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 23rd minute, one of Montenotte Inf:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Montenotte Inf. Montenotte Inf's Ercole Cucci got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th match minute, Montacuto AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Achille Schirru to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Christian Ottavi managed to get in a good position for a shot. Montenotte Inf's supporters rose to their feet, but Christian Ottavi was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabio Battista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabiano Coletti's late challenge caught a Montacuto AFC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Montenotte Inf's zone, Achille Schirru stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Elia Vitucci came out of the goal and Achille Schirru tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 84th minute, Ercole Cucci ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fabio Battista was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. In the 90th minute, Montenotte Inf's Christian Ottavi ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Fabio Battista. Fabio Battista yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-4. Fabio Battista made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Ottavi in the 96th minute of play. Montenotte Inf's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
