The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 12 minutes into the game, one of Chiavelli:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The penalty shot was made by Alvise Gentile, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Chiavelli's Bernardo Valerio. 1-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Damiano Di Fonzo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Chiavelli's supporters rose to their feet, but Damiano Di Fonzo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Federico Lio breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Flavio Garibaldi kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Federico Cipollini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Valerio having to interfere. After 31 played minutes Palazzi FC got a freekick which was hit by Alvise Gentile. Bernardo Di Cola charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bernardo Di Cola the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After having played for 37 minutes, Andrea Carbonetti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Chiavelli's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andrea Carbonetti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After having played for 39 minutes, Damiano Di Fonzo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bernardo Valerio came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Palazzi FC's Federico Cipollini. But to his dismay, Federico Cipollini quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. After having played for 68 minutes, Federico Cipollini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Palazzi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Federico Cipollini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After a rather tough play, Chiavelli's Alvise Carrea got a free kick in the 70th minute. The audience was convinced that Alfonso Fioravanti's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Bernardo Valerio was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. Federico Cipollini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alfonso Fioravanti in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Bernardo Valerio saved Chiavelli from getting behind. Federico Lio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrea Carbonetti in the 76th minute of the match. In the 80th minute, Chiavelli's Andrea Carbonetti ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Federico Lio. Federico Lio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 3-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 85th minute, Alfonso Fioravanti managed to get in a good position for a shot. In the 96th minute, Alfonso Fioravanti ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bernardo Valerio was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Chiavelli's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
