In the 7th minute Fabio Lauro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernardo Valerio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Fabio Lauro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardo Valerio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Poggio Varano AFC. 17 minutes into the match, Camillo Di Giuseppe notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Chiavelli's Bernardo Valerio. Bernardo Valerio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 20th minute, Flavio Di Palma hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Damiano Di Fonzo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the game, Chiavelli's Damiano Di Fonzo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Demetrio Prandini made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Francesco Prosperi charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Francesco Prosperi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Chiavelli's Bernardo Valerio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Lauro in the 29th minute of play. 30 minutes into the game, Ettore Orioli was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Chiavelli's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Poggio Varano AFC the free kick. The supporters of Poggio Varano AFC booed when Chiavelli was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ettore Orioli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Anthony Boninsegna hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. The corner led Poggio Varano AFC's Alexander Corvasce to fire away a dangerous shot which Bernardo Valerio despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Bernardo Valerio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabio Lauro, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Fabio Lauro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Bernardo Valerio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Andrea Carbonetti made the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Fabio Lauro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andrea Carbonetti might have been able to make a better finish in the 71st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Demetrio Prandini. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andrea Carbonetti ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 73rd minute Damiano Di Fonzo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demetrio Prandini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fabio Lauro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bernardo Valerio having to interfere. Demetrio Prandini came out of the goal in the 80th minute to try and stop a shot by Chiavelli's Andrea Carbonetti. But to his dismay, Andrea Carbonetti quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. 83 minutes into the match, Chiavelli's goalkeeper Bernardo Valerio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Camillo Di Giuseppe. Chiavelli's Bernardo Valerio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabio Lauro in the 84th minute of play. When Fabio Lauro came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Poggio Varano AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Lauro couldn't finish the play. Many of Poggio Varano AFC's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Poggio Varano AFC may have spent more time on the ball, but Chiavelli were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
