After having played for 13 minutes, Frank Vitucci managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dolcedo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frank Vitucci was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Fortunato Talone was extremely unlucky when he, in the 16th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Armando Giorda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Vitucci in the 19th minute of play. Frank Vitucci fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Armando Giorda having to interfere. If Francesco Antico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alberigo Gigli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fortunato Talone in the 25th minute of play. Alberigo Gigli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fortunato Talone, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Dolcedo's zone, Claudio Martelli stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Alberigo Gigli came out of the goal and Claudio Martelli tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Fortunato Talone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frank Vitucci sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Frank Vitucci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Armando Giorda made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Vitucci in the 57th minute of play. If Fortunato Talone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, Dolcedo's Claudio Suriani got a free kick in the 81st minute. With a little luck, Roma's Armando Giorda got control of the ball when Francesco Antico tried to sneak it across the goal line. Francesco Antico recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Francesco Anticos short, quick shot in the 93rdth minute got Armando Giorda to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The Dolcedo players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
