The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After 10 played minutes Bagazzano AFC got a freekick which was hit by Ennio Vianello. Bernardo Bottega shot from long distance after 12 played minutes, a shot that Attilio Scurti with certain difficulty stopped from going in under the crossbar. The supporters of Bagazzano AFC booed when Poggio Renatico AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carmine Moriggi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudio Monticelli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Alvise Caiola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Poggio Renatico AFC's Alvise Caiola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augusto Bellone in the 24th minute of play. Augusto Bellone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Alvise Caiola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Poggio Renatico AFC getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Ernesto Ucci hit a great ball. In the 36th minute, Augusto Bellone got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Augusto Bellone received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Alvise Caiola tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Augusto Bellone was the one to do the kick off. In the 71st minute of the match Bagazzano AFC got a corner. Poggio Renatico AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dino Alba ran over to the corner to take the kick. Alvise Caiola stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Augusto Bellone's shot from short distance in the 73rd minute. After some careless play in the Poggio Renatico AFC defense, Claudio Monticelli kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alvise Caiola. The Poggio Renatico AFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alvise Caiola should have stopped the shot. Alvise Caiola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Augusto Bellone, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 86th match minute, Bagazzano AFC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciro Pavlu to maneuver through the defense. When Dennis Fabiani came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Poggio Renatico AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Fabiani couldn't finish the play. After 95 minutes of play, Bagazzano AFC's Augusto Bellone made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alvise Caiola was left in no man's land by his defense there!
