Acciaiolo's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Ermanno Reali in the 16th minute. When Bianco Marcon fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Acciaiolo's protests and gave Bianco Marcon a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th match minute, Acciaiolo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bianco Marcon to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 22nd minute, Carter Giacomini managed to get in a good position for a shot. Acciaiolo's supporters rose to their feet, but Carter Giacomini was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dave Barone breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Dave Addari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Dave Barone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, Acciaiolo's goal looked a bit too open when Camillo Donadoni came free, but Comunardo Berardinelli reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Carter Giacomini might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Dave Barone. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Carter Giacomini ran back to his position shaking his head. Dave Addaris short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Dave Barone to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 39 played minutes Castenaso FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Santarelli. Ermanno Reali, 40 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. If Ennio Coccolone had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Carter Giacomini to make the kick off. If Carter Giacomini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Acciaiolo's zone, Ennio Coccolone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Comunardo Berardinelli came out of the goal and Ennio Coccolone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 70th minute, Dave Addari left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Acciaiolo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Dave Addari received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Dave Barone tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 82nd minute Ennio Coccolone shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Comunardo Berardinelli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dave Barone showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carter Giacomini, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. Camillo Donadoni fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Comunardo Berardinelli having to interfere. When Camillo Donadoni came up free with the goalie in the 91st minute, the Castenaso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Camillo Donadoni couldn't finish the play. Castenaso FC's Dave Barone played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carter Giacomini in the 95th minute of play.
