Arrigo De Zorzi could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 6th minute of the match, but Amerigo De Meis made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dino Bencivenni in the 14th minute of play forced San Rufillo's goalkeeper Eraldo Capobianco to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Eraldo Capobianco stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dino Bencivenni's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. In the 17th minute, Antonio De Rubeis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 18 played minutes Castel Maggiore got a freekick which was hit by Dino Bencivenni. If Cristiano Raniolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes in the game, Cristiano Raniolo dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 28 minutes into the match, Castel Maggiore's Bernardo Barresi sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eraldo Capobianco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, Castel Maggiore's Amerigo De Meis got control of the ball when Arrigo De Zorzi tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 33 played minutes San Rufillo got a freekick which was hit by Fausto Di Vito. Bernardo Barresi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. San Rufillo's Eraldo Capobianco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dino Bencivenni in the 44th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of San Rufillo booed when Castel Maggiore was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Enrico Riva didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arrigo De Zorzi in the 60th minute of play forced Castel Maggiore's goalkeeper Amerigo De Meis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 62 minutes into the match, Arrigo De Zorzi had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Amerigo De Meis. Castel Maggiore's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arrigo De Zorzi was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. San Rufillo's Eraldo Capobianco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernardo Barresi in the 69th minute of play. If Bernardo Barresi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bernardo Barresi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eraldo Capobianco having to interfere. Dino Bencivenni sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cristiano Raniolo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 85th match minute, San Rufillo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Antonio De Rubeis to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Dino Bencivenni managed to get in a good position for a shot. Castel Maggiore's supporters rose to their feet, but Dino Bencivenni was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Eraldo Capobianco breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Dino Bencivenni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 91 minutes into the match, Dino Bencivenni notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of San Rufillo's Eraldo Capobianco. Eraldo Capobianco was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Eraldo Capobianco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bernardo Barresi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Castel Maggiore players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented San Rufillo from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
