Concetto Clemente charged in rather forcefully in the 3rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Concetto Clemente the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Sacconago booed when Quarto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Concetto Clemente didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvise Colantoni in the 6th minute of play forced Quarto's goalkeeper Felice Gelsomini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 9 minutes into the game, Quarto's Amos Falcioni nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Flavio Salvucci made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. When Ciro Marinelli fell near the penalty area in the 12th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quarto's protests and gave Ciro Marinelli a yellow card for diving instead. Sacconago were furious when Comunardo Pocobello was red carded, 17 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 16 minutes into the game, one of Sacconago:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. In the 19th minute there was a penalty for Quarto. Eugenio Picca stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Flavio Salvucci. 0-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Arrigo Rava in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Salvucci prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fabrizio Eleuteri during the 27th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fabrizio Eleuteri hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. If Amos Falcioni had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Armando Sardella managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sacconago's supporters rose to their feet, but Armando Sardella was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Felice Gelsomini breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Quarto's Felice Gelsomini played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armando Sardella in the 65th minute of play. Amos Falcioni's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Flavio Salvucci read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. In the 78th minute, Armando Sardella got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 79th minute, Ciro Marinelli hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 82nd minute, Eugenio Picca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
