Fabio Zoccolo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Diego Santucci having to interfere. 11 minutes into the match, Fabio Zoccolo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Diego Santucci. Montagnola FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabio Zoccolo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Fortunato Mauro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Ercole Colecchia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ercole Colecchia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Antonio Quattrocchi's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. In the 25th minute, Fabio Zoccolo left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Oneglia FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. A collision led to Oneglia FC getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Demetrio Scrima hit a great ball. In the 30th play minute Fortunato Mauro came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Ercole Colecchia. 1-2. 36 minutes into the match, Alessandro Trevisani notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Montagnola FC's Diego Santucci. Diego Santucci was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Fabio Zoccolo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Diego Santucci was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. In the 41st minute, Demetrio Scrima hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Oneglia FC getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Fausto Lio hit a great ball. Ercole Colecchia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Antonio Quattrocchi, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Fortunato Mauro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ercole Colecchia read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Fabio Zoccolo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Fausto Lo Iacono left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Montagnola FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-3. 64 minutes into the match, Montagnola FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fabio Zoccolo came free, but Diego Santucci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 minutes, Eraldo Porcu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montagnola FC and the Oneglia FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Oneglia FC booed when Montagnola FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eraldo Porcu didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 76 minutes, Fabio Zoccolo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Oneglia FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabio Zoccolo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Antonio Quattrocchi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Oneglia FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
