The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If István Dancs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 4th minute, Sándor Zádori got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Zoltán Magos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from György Puskás, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Gyula Szőcs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. József Görbe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gyula Szőcs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without József Görbe having to interfere. In the 18th match minute, Lokomotív FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zbyszek Poremba to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Sándor Zádori managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lokomotív FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Sándor Zádori was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. József Görbe breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. József Görbe made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from István Dancs in the 29th minute of play. The supporters of Lokomotív FC booed when Rátót SE was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valentin Nyilasi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 35 played minutes Rátót SE got a freekick which was hit by Kornél Lengyel. In the 36th minute, Sándor Sági sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Rátót SE's József Görbe didn't even have to move. Zoltán Magos made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Norbert Szentesi sent off a good shot on target. In the 40th minute, Attila Szűcs hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 41st minute of the match Kornél Lengyel shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zoltán Magos showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rátót SE's József Görbe played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gyula Szőcs in the 43rd minute of play. The Rátót SE players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Lokomotív FC were winning 0-1.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Sándor Zádori in the 52nd minute of play forced Rátót SE's goalkeeper József Görbe to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 52 minutes of play, Lokomotív FC's Sándor Zádori made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. József Görbe was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 56 played minutes Sándor Zádori could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 0-3 into the left cross. In the 59th minute, Norbert Kereki hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Rátót SE's József Görbe got control of the ball when István Dancs tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Lokomotív FC's Sándor Zádori in the 62nd minute got a chance for a shot 62nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Miklós Fenyves's late challenge caught a Lokomotív FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miklós Fenyves helped the player get up and apologised. Miklós Fenyves hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 69th match minute, Lokomotív FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tibor Zsinka to maneuver through the defense.
