After 3 played minutes Ugljan got a freekick which was hit by Mitar Kukić. Dragan Romić showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ladislav Jusić, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Ljubomir Kopljar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Nikša Baričević tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 16th minute, Florijan Koloper got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jakša Filković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Nikša Baričević tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nikša Baričević made a fantastic save in the 20th minute, when Jakša Filković sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Ugljan booed when Kaptol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Srđan Šunić didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Matko Jendrić sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Kaptol's Dragan Romić didn't even have to move. Kaptol's Dragan Romić played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ladislav Jusić in the 26th minute of play. In the 27th minute Ljubomir Kopljar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nikša Baričević saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ugljan's Nikša Baričević played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ljubomir Kopljar in the 32nd minute of play. Nikša Baričević showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ljubomir Kopljar, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. In the 35th minute, Jakša Filković got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Jakša Filković took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Nikša Baričević to make any attempt to save it. The supporters of Ugljan booed when Kaptol was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radimir Masleša didn't get a good kick on the ball. Matko Jendrić, 43 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 47th match minute, Kaptol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Srđan Šunić to maneuver through the defense. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Nikola Kovačev in the 55thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Dragan Romić, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ljubomir Kopljar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Kaptol's zone, Nikola Kovačev stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dragan Romić came out of the goal and Nikola Kovačev tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nikola Kovačev struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Dragan Romić didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ugljan. Ugljan's Nikša Baričević played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jakša Filković in the 63rd minute of play. Nikša Baričević showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ljubomir Kopljar, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Dragan Romić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ladislav Jusić in the 69th minute of play. If Jakša Filković had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 76 minutes, Jakša Filković managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kaptol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jakša Filković was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ljubomir Kopljar had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nikša Baričević stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ljubomir Kopljar's shot from short distance in the 83rd minute. Nikša Baričević made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ljubomir Kopljar in the 84th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Ladislav Jusić managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ugljan's supporters rose to their feet, but Ladislav Jusić was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dragan Romić breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augustin Šipraga got free with Dragan Romić in the 89th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. A collision led to Kaptol getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Damir Modrah hit a great ball. 94 minutes into the match, Kaptol's Ljubomir Kopljar sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nikša Baričević narrowly saved just below the crossbar.
