In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Zaprešić's goalkeeper Tonko Đurković, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 16 minutes of play, Marinci's Mislav Brdar made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Tonko Đurković was left in no man's land by his defense there! Zlatan Pintar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Tonko Đurković tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Tomo Gobac fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Nenad Široka, passed just outside the right post. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, Zlatan Pintar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marinci's supporters rose to their feet, but Zlatan Pintar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tonko Đurković breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mile Laušić during the 31st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Marinci's Nenad Široka played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomo Gobac in the 33rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Mislav Brdar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tonko Đurković was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. Marijan Gracin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nenad Široka having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Jadranko Leib left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Marinci fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zlatan Pintar was the one to do the kick off. Tonko Đurković made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Jadranko Leib sent off a good shot on target. After 62 played minutes, Marinci's Dražen Milanković shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Tonko Đurković came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marinci reached it. Mislav Brdar succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-3 in the 67th playminute. Tonko Đurković took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zlatan Pintar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ognjen Vukmirica charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
