The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the game, Povratnici's Andrej Palković nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Gojko Travar made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Andrej Palković sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 19 minutes, Gašpar Božić mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the NK OSIJEK and the Povratnici players grew even worse after the yellow card. Dominik Klaus scored 3-1 in the 40th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Višeslav Berend, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Andrej Palković had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Andrej Palković stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, NK OSIJEK's Gašpar Božić got a free kick in the 63rd minute. Gojko Travar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrej Palković in the 65th minute of play. In the 70th match minute, Povratnici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eduard Turčin to maneuver through the defense. Višeslav Berend was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Luka Jović showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 72 minute of play. Dominik Klaus might have been able to make a better finish in the 76th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Višeslav Berend. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dominik Klaus ran back to his position shaking his head. Priidik Room took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Višeslav Berend. Višeslav Berend dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. Luka Jović sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andrej Palković blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Gojko Travar having to make a save. The supporters of NK OSIJEK booed when Povratnici was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Vrhovec didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dominik Klaus hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match.
