The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Salomon Camus made an important save on a dangerous shot by Laurent Batisse in the 3rd minute. Yvan Bernabe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 4th minute. Salomon Camus tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Jordy Charlier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Houplin's Romaric Rolin got a free kick in the 13th minute. If Christopher Fellmann had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In a very dangerous position, a player in Houplin fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 18th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Chesnaye a penalty, 20 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Jean-Marie Gall, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Houplin's Alexandre Sire. 0-1. After a rather tough play, Chesnaye's Jean-Marie Gall got a free kick in the 26th minute. In the 30th match minute, Houplin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romaric Rolin to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valerien Boissard in the 31st minute of play forced Houplin's goalkeeper Alexandre Sire to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After having played for 34 minutes, Bob Porcheron managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Houplin's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bob Porcheron was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Bob Porcheron fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salomon Camus having to interfere. After 46 minutes of play, Houplin's Bob Porcheron made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Salomon Camus was left in no man's land by his defense there! The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Yvan Bernabe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Alexandre Sire took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Valerien Boissard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Yvan Bernabe sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Chesnaye's zone, Bob Porcheron stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Salomon Camus came out of the goal and Bob Porcheron tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 71st match minute, Chesnaye was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Christopher Fellmann to maneuver through the defense. Bob Porcheron blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Salomon Camus having to make a save. Yvan Bernabe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Salomon Camus having to interfere. After 79 played minutes Houplin got a freekick which was hit by Laurent Batisse. After 84 played minutes Valerien Boissard rounded Houplin's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-2. Valerien Boissard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Alexandre Sire tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Chesnaye supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Chesnaye would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
