Jocelyn Sandoz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jocelyn Sandoz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dorian Convert in the 8th minute. Jocelyn Sandoz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francis Houpert, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Francis Houpert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 45 minutes of play, Vitrolles's Morgan Brette made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilfried Dol was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gilles Blanchard was the one to do the kick off. Dorian Convert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Francis Houpert in the 54th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jocelyn Sandoz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a rather tough play, Douai's Jolan Harang got a free kick in the 60th minute. With a little luck, Douai's Wilfried Dol got control of the ball when Morgan Brette tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gilles Blanchard fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilfried Dol having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Douai's Titouan Marsac got a free kick in the 68th minute. Stanislas Roge, 69 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Morgan Brette succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 1-2 in the 76th playminute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francis Houpert in the 87th minute of play forced Vitrolles's goalkeeper Jocelyn Sandoz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Morgan Brette came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Vitrolles fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Morgan Brette couldn't finish the play. The Vitrolles supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Vitrolles would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
