Plivien's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eymeric Junique ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ahmid Pupier's late challenge caught a Strasbourg's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ahmid Pupier helped the player get up and apologised. In the 47thth minute of the game Luka Leparoux who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Strasbourg's Louis Cortès was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Eugene De Luca didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ali Wisniewski went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. Ali Wisniewski fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eugene De Luca having to interfere. If Luka Leparoux had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
