Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when William Poilane made the kick off which started today's match. 2 minutes into the match, Velaux's goal looked a bit too open when Timothe Bouteloup came free, but Blaise Delaigue reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Djibril Maisonneuve stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of William Poilane's shot from short distance in the 4th minute. Jean-Charles Pays recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 8 minutes into the game, Jason Anfray was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Velaux's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Placier the free kick. The supporters of Placier booed when Velaux was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jason Anfray didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Placier's Gaston Corbel got a free kick in the 15th minute. Luka Chaffard was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 16th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 19th match minute, Placier was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dimitri Blanpain to maneuver through the defense. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Placier's goalie and right to Chris Sandrin. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Placier's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Placier's goalkeeper Djibril Maisonneuve, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd rose to their feet as Velaux's William Poilane slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Djibril Maisonneuve. That made the score 1-0 after 28 minutes of play. Placier's Djibril Maisonneuve played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by William Poilane in the 33rd minute of play. If Jean-Charles Pays had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 40th minute, Alain Quelin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
In the 51st match minute, Velaux was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Damien Le Bris to maneuver through the defense. In the 54th minute, William Poilane left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Velaux fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. If Jean-Charles Pays had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dimitri Blanpain kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Velaux's Blaise Delaigue proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Velaux from getting a goal against them. Timothe Bouteloup fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blaise Delaigue having to interfere. Velaux's Jean-Charles Pays got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Velaux's Jean-Charles Pays in the 85th minute got a chance for a shot 85th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Placier's goalie prevented a goal. Blaise Delaigue acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 88th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Carl Hequet. After having played for 92 minutes, William Poilane managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Velaux's supporters crossed their fingers, but William Poilane was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jean-Charles Pays in the 93rd minute of play forced Placier's goalkeeper Djibril Maisonneuve to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jean-Charles Pays received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Djibril Maisonneuve tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Placier's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
