The referee ignored Verson's protests and gave Felicien Bechu a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Ruelisheim booed when Verson was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felicien Bechu didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Maxence Labonne in the 41st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matheo Lignon saved Verson from getting behind. 43 minutes into the match, Ruelisheim's goal looked a bit too open when Donald Bezin came free, but Ghislain Charre reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Donald Bezin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Verson were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Fabian Venet charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After some fancy dribbling in the 70th minute, Frederic Baumard managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ruelisheim's supporters rose to their feet, but Frederic Baumard was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Matheo Lignon breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Etienne Brandon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Donald Bezin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 79 minutes into the game, Maxence Labonne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ruelisheim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Verson the free kick. 80 minutes into the match, Verson's Rene Ragot broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. The Verson supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Verson would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
