Spectators: 34 (Terracing: 26, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Théophile Gaudry made the kick off which started today's match. Franklin Huiban recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mercier's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Matthieu Blondeel 18 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Mercier's Batiste Fauvet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Mercier from getting a goal against them. After a defensive mix-up in Mercier's zone, Franklin Huiban stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Batiste Fauvet came out of the goal and Franklin Huiban tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Mercier's Francis Michaux got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Albert Lerch showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lorenzo Truchon, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After 40 minutes of play, Mercier's Charles Bardon made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Albert Lerch was left in no man's land by his defense there! Albert Lerch took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francis Michaux, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Mercier's Charles Bardon got a free kick in the 51st minute. In the 52nd minute of the match Denis Grisard sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Batiste Fauvet skillfully saved the ball.

Forbach's Albert Lerch proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 61st minute of the match, managed to save Forbach from getting a goal against them. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Matthieu Blondeel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Forbach's supporters rose to their feet, but Matthieu Blondeel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Batiste Fauvet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Théophile Gaudry fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Lerch having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Forbach's Karl Drouot got a free kick in the 75th minute. After some careless play in the Forbach defense, Francis Michaux kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Albert Lerch. The Forbach fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Albert Lerch should have stopped the shot. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Mercier eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
