Gilles Laurans, 39 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Patrick Hervieux fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Célestin Guilbaud having to interfere. Tanguy De Araujo might have been able to make a better finish in the 87th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jean-Pierre Delamotte. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tanguy De Araujo ran back to his position shaking his head. Célestin Guilbaud made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patrick Hervieux in the 93rd minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Tanguy De Araujo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gainneville's supporters rose to their feet, but Tanguy De Araujo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jean-Pierre Delamotte breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 98 minutes into the game, Tanguy De Araujo cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Jean-Pierre Delamotte was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Gainneville eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
