The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Reda Calvo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Thierry Plisson's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. Thierry Plisson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Reda Calvo having to interfere. Josselin Vautrin charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Josselin Vautrin the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 12 played minutes Vignal got a freekick which was hit by Josselin Vautrin. Teddy Watremez kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. Ernest Pagnier sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Henri Baraton was a little too slow when Gaetan Froger got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 21st minute. The score was now 1-0. Henri Baraton made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ernest Pagnier in the 27th minute. If Gaetan Froger had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ernest Pagnier blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Henri Baraton having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Fontenay's Jarod Le Saux got a free kick in the 32nd minute. In the 36th minute of the match Vignal got a corner. Fontenay's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Richard Pradere ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on Vignal's corner Thierry Palmieri fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Henri Baraton quite easily take care of the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Vignal's zone, Dilan Chataigner stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Reda Calvo came out of the goal and Dilan Chataigner tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fontenay's Henri Baraton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gaetan Froger in the 40th minute of play. 44 minutes into the game, Fontenay's Thierry Plisson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Reda Calvo made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

53 minutes into the match, Thierry Plisson had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reda Calvo. Vignal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Thierry Plisson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The audience was convinced that Gaetan Froger's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henri Baraton was relentless in the 66th minute of the game. Thierry Plisson in the 73rdth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal.
