Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pierre-Olivier Moricet in the 12th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kevan Carminati prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Pierre-Olivier Moricet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Vivien Ville during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 18 played minutes Illzach got a freekick which was hit by Vivien Ville. Illzach's Felix Farges got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Firmin Gache showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marvin Bréant, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Marvin Bréant recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Illzach's Felix Farges slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Firmin Gache. That made the score 1-1 after 32 minutes of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
Thibault Quillet charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thibault Quillet the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Marvin Bréant took the ball and in the 59 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Firmin Gache. Firmin Gache dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. La Rochelle FC's Jérémie Declerck got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Kevan Carminati made an important save on a dangerous shot by Pierre-Olivier Moricet in the 95th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Illzach fans cheered their team off the field, for while La Rochelle FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
