The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Danny Mothes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sylvain Galan struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Bruce Lejosne didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Barby. An unexpectedly hard shot by Danny Mothes in the 8th minute of play forced Moulin's goalkeeper Bruce Lejosne to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 11 minutes into the match, Barby's goalkeeper Stéphane Didier had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Steven Sagnol. Bruce Lejosne stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Danny Mothes's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. If Danny Mothes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Barby defense, Steven Sagnol kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Stéphane Didier. The Barby fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Stéphane Didier should have stopped the shot. Stéphane Didier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eugène Georg in the 22nd minute of play. Sylvain Galan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Bruce Lejosne tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind Moulin's goalkeeper Bruce Lejosne, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Steven Sagnol received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Stéphane Didier tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 37th minute Eugène Georg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stéphane Didier saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eugène Georg in the 41st minute of play forced Barby's goalkeeper Stéphane Didier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Stéphane Didier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eugène Georg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

51 minutes into the match, Barby's goal looked a bit too open when Steven Sagnol came free, but Stéphane Didier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 53 minutes, Quentin Four mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Barby and the Moulin players grew even worse after the yellow card. If Danny Mothes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Danny Mothes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruce Lejosne having to interfere. Sylvain Galan sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Mothes couldn't finish the play. 2-0 became the score in the 80th minute when Eugène Georg elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Barby's Stéphane Didier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eugène Georg in the 83rd minute of play. Eugène Georg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the referee blew the final whistle, Moulin could leave the field as winners, despite Barby having more of the ball for most of the match.
