The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The audience thought a goal was coming when Joffrey Wargnier got free with Maxime Gaffet in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Maxime Gaffet made a fantastic save in the 5th minute, when Joffrey Wargnier sent off a good shot on target. In the 13th minute of the game, Gregory Maubert landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. After 13 minutes, Batiste Jury mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the olympique de montereau and the Wahagnies players grew even worse after the yellow card. Maxime Gaffet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Salomon Jimenez in the 15th minute. Albert Laborie received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Maxime Gaffet came out and tried to block the shot, but Albert Laborie slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 17th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albert Laborie in the 21st minute of play forced olympique de montereau's goalkeeper Maxime Gaffet to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Maxime Gaffet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hugues Vernhet, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 39th minute, Jean-Michel Platini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Dimitri Charpy showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adil Fey in the 43rd minute of the match. Hugues Vernhet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maxime Gaffet having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After having played for 52 minutes, Adil Fey managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. olympique de montereau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Adil Fey was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joffrey Wargnier took the ball and in the 57 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Maxime Gaffet. Maxime Gaffet dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. In the 61st match minute, Wahagnies was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Laborie to maneuver through the defense. Albert Laborie recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 68th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jérôme Vatinel charged in rather forcefully in the 73rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jérôme Vatinel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 75th minute, Adil Fey left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The olympique de montereau fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Hugues Vernhet kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Wahagnies's goalkeeper Dimitri Charpy, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Albert Laborie received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Maxime Gaffet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With a little luck, Wahagnies's Dimitri Charpy got control of the ball when Jean-Michel Platini tried to sneak it across the goal line. Salomon Jimenez got a throw-in 89 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Albert Laborie. After having played for 94 minutes, Jean-Michel Platini managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. olympique de montereau's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jean-Michel Platini was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Wahagnies were victorious despite being under pressure from olympique de montereau for much of the match.
