After some careless play in the Bellegarde defense, Hubert Pradal kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lionel Mirande. The Bellegarde fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lionel Mirande should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in As Monaco FC's zone, Félicien Buret stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Antoine Knecht came out of the goal and Félicien Buret tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Antoine Knecht made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Félicien Buret in the 30th minute of play. Hubert Pradal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Lionel Mirande tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Yves Catherin hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Jacques Ménut's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lionel Mirande read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Sylvain Wawrzyniak charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Sylvain Wawrzyniak the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Bellegarde booed when As Monaco FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sylvain Wawrzyniak didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Alix Lizarazu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bellegarde's supporters rose to their feet, but Alix Lizarazu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antoine Knecht breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bellegarde's Lionel Mirande played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hubert Pradal in the 80th minute of play. If Jacques Ménut had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 90th minute the ball was on its way in behind Bellegarde's goalkeeper Lionel Mirande, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 92 played minutes As Monaco FC got a freekick which was hit by Gildas Poquet. Antoine Knecht acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 93rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Marco Andrieux. Félicien Buret could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 97th minute of the match, but Antoine Knecht made a huge save. The Bellegarde players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
