If Jean-Yves Mange had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Real Madrid booed when Villecresnes was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luka Dumon didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jocelyn Dillies made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Philippe Chambert in the 23rd minute of play. In the 25th minute, Philippe Chambert got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jean-Yves Mange sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jean-Marc Rautureau kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After 34 played minutes Real Madrid got a freekick which was hit by Raoul Fauchard. Prosper Body sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jean-Yves Mange was the one to do the kick off. In the 60th minute, Villecresnes's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Raoul Fauchard fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Jean-Yves Mange might have been able to make a better finish in the 63rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jocelyn Dillies. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jean-Yves Mange ran back to his position shaking his head. When Villecresnes's Prosper Body in the 68th minute got a chance for a shot 68th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Real Madrid's goalie prevented a goal. Villecresnes's Luka Dumon pulled a muscle in his back after 68 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Raoul Fauchard during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Real Madrid getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Raoul Fauchard hit a great ball. If Prosper Body had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Villecresnes's Prosper Body got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 80 minutes, Jean-Yves Mange managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Madrid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jean-Yves Mange was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Villecresnes's Jocelyn Dillies proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 83rd minute of the match, managed to save Villecresnes from getting a goal against them. Prosper Body scored 1-0 in the 85th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luc Calvo, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Real Madrid's Raoul Fauchard got a free kick in the 88th minute. Martial Tauzin struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Luc Calvo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Villecresnes. The audience was convinced that Prosper Body's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luc Calvo was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. Villecresnes's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
