Gardanne's Bruno Marx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erwin Janssens in the 11th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paul-Henri Trocme in the 13th minute of play forced Gardanne's goalkeeper Bruno Marx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gardanne's Bruno Marx played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Erwin Janssens in the 15th minute of play. René Merceron showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jérôme Thebault in the 18th minute of the match. Olympique de marseille's Paul-Henri Trocme got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 26th minute Erwin Janssens shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bruno Marx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Anthony Arnoux hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Bruno Marx showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Erwin Janssens in the 35th minute of the match. The supporters of Olympique de marseille booed when Gardanne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anthony Arnoux didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erwin Janssens's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Bruno Marx read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Paul-Henri Trocme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 43rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bruno Marx having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Paul-Henri Trocme got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Olympique de marseille's Erwin Janssens got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

A collision led to Olympique de marseille getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Paul-Henri Trocme hit a great ball. After a rather tough play, Gardanne's Mamadou Eustache got a free kick in the 58th minute. The audience held their breath when Stéphane Collas in the 60th minute of the game managed to trick the opponents defenses and fired away a shot outside the goal on the Bruno Marx's left hand side. Bruno Marx showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Paul-Henri Trocme in the 66th minute of the match. Erwin Janssens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Gardanne's zone, Paul-Henri Trocme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bruno Marx came out of the goal and Paul-Henri Trocme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Erwin Janssens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Bruno Marx tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 80th minute, Erwin Janssens got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Erwin Janssens came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Bruno Marx could save by the left post. The crowd rose to their feet as Olympique de marseille's Paul-Henri Trocme slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Bruno Marx. That made the score 0-2 after 83 minutes of play. Paul-Henri Trocme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 92nd minute, Jérôme Thebault hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute of the match Stéphane Collas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Bruno Marx skillfully saved the ball. Erwin Janssens sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
