The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 9th minute Davy Garbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rémi Griot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rémi Griot made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davy Garbay in the 10th minute of play. 14 minutes into the match, olympique Lyonnais's Lucien Chapelon broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Lilian Cormerais struck a weak shot in the 20th minute. Danny Lefranc didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for olympique Lyonnais. In the 28th minute, Vivien Lionnet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Brian Lavalette sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rémi Griot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Davy Garbay, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 36 minutes into the match, olympique Lyonnais's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Lavalette came free, but Rémi Griot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Calais's zone, Lilian Cormerais stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danny Lefranc came out of the goal and Lilian Cormerais tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Calais's Danny Lefranc played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lilian Cormerais in the 47th minute of play. Lilian Cormerais sent away a hard shot on goal in the 49th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Lilian Cormerais made the kick off in the second half. Danny Lefranc showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lilian Cormerais in the 54th minute of the match. Danny Lefranc took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lilian Cormerais, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lilian Cormerais in the 57th minute of play forced Calais's goalkeeper Danny Lefranc to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florentin Hache sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Lilian Cormerais's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danny Lefranc read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 60th minute of play. Hugo Dervieux charged in rather forcefully in the 61st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hugo Dervieux the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 63rd minute, Vivien Lionnet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Brian Lavalette had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 74 minutes of play, Calais's Alban Gruel made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rémi Griot was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, olympique Lyonnais's Rémi Griot got control of the ball when Brian Lavalette tried to sneak it across the goal line. Édouard Segura charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Édouard Segura the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 85 played minutes olympique Lyonnais got a freekick which was hit by Édouard Segura. Brian Lavalette recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 91st match minute, olympique Lyonnais was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vivien Lionnet to maneuver through the defense. In the 93rd minute, Samuel Machado sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and olympique Lyonnais's Rémi Griot didn't even have to move. In the 98th minute, Davy Garbay got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Calais's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
