Cyrille Mussard received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 15th minute. Régis Samuel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyrille Mussard in the 18th minute of play forced Soler's goalkeeper Régis Samuel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pierre-Louis Gillette fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Régis Samuel having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, Cyrille Mussard dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Régis Samuel, 2-0. Pierre-Louis Gillette might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Régis Samuel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The audience thought a goal was coming when Florian Alba got free with Régis Samuel in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 30th play minutes Pierre-Louis Gillette shot 3-0, a short shot which went by Régis Samuel and just under the crossbar into goal. Besançon's Pierre-Louis Gillette got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 39th minute Cyrille Mussard shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Régis Samuel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pierre-Louis Gillette could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 41st minute of the match, but Régis Samuel made a huge save. Régis Samuel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cyrille Mussard's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cyrille Mussard to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, Cyrille Mussard had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Régis Samuel. Soler's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cyrille Mussard was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 87th minute, Pierre-Louis Gillette managed to get in a good position for a shot. Besançon's supporters rose to their feet, but Pierre-Louis Gillette was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Régis Samuel breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Régis Samuel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Davy Ober went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Cyrille Mussard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Régis Samuel was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. The supporters of Besançon booed when Soler was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bastien Monteillet didn't get a good kick on the ball. Besançon's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
