Mathis Rémy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Marouane Grelaud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Grégory Absalon during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Pierrelaye fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 23rd minute. Penalty! In the 25th minute there was a penalty for Rennes. Marvin Ferri stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Malcom Degryse. 1-1. In the 35thth minute of the game Alain Gricourt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rennes's Martial Guillen was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Pascal Lamy hit a great freekick 36 minutes into the match. If Benoît Humbert had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 44 minutes into the game, Marouane Grelaud cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Malcom Degryse was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Marouane Grelaud to make the kick off. With his leg Malcom Degryse managed to avoid a goal in the 52ndth minute, when Rennes's Benoît Humbert fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 56th minute, Dilan Mateo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Grégory Absalon's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed Martial Guillen - 2-2 was put on the score board in the 57th minute. If Marouane Grelaud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Malcom Degryse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marouane Grelaud in the 67th minute of play. If Marouane Grelaud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rennes's Martial Guillen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alain Gricourt in the 78th minute of play. Alain Gricourt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Martial Guillen read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 84th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Rennes's zone, Alain Gricourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martial Guillen came out of the goal and Alain Gricourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 88th minute, Alain Gricourt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mathis Rémy fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Martial Guillen having to interfere. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
