Denis Daguenet fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joseph Benedetti having to interfere. With a little luck, Montluel's Mario Brisard got control of the ball when Charlie Croce tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Rodolphe Heyraud came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Montluel fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rodolphe Heyraud couldn't finish the play. Joseph Benedetti made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodolphe Heyraud in the 24th minute of play. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Tournefeuille's goalkeeper Joseph Benedetti, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 27 minutes, Raoul Vilain mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tournefeuille and the Montluel players grew even worse after the yellow card. The audience was convinced that Georges Villette's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mario Brisard was relentless in the 33rd minute of the game. The referee showed Mike Cruz the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 54 played minutes Tournefeuille got a freekick which was hit by Mike Cruz. After 69 minutes, Aurélien Pichard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Montluel and the Tournefeuille players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Tournefeuille booed when Montluel was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aurélien Pichard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Montluel's Mario Brisard played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Croce in the 71st minute of play. In the 93rd minute Denis Daguenet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joseph Benedetti saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the game, Denis Daguenet recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Joseph Benedetti. Denis Daguenet showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-2. The Tournefeuille manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Montluel to win.
