The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Tanvol's goalkeeper Georges Queguiner had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Maurice Rocca. If Thibaut Peyrot had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Georges Queguiner showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thibaut Peyrot in the 11th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claude Labeyrie in the 14th minute of play forced Violaines's goalkeeper Jacob Hamy to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 15th minute Ilan Ferretti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacob Hamy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Tanvol's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Eric Guenin was slow to take the kick. During this time Violaines's players had a chance to rest. When Maurice Rocca came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Violaines fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Maurice Rocca couldn't finish the play. Georges Queguiner showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thibaut Peyrot, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. In the 30th match minute, Tanvol was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alphonse Faurie to maneuver through the defense. 33 minutes into the match, Violaines's goal looked a bit too open when Ilan Ferretti came free, but Jacob Hamy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maurice Rocca blasted a shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Georges Queguiner having to make a save. Georges Queguiner made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thibaut Peyrot in the 44th minute of play. Ilan Ferretti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Thibaut Peyrot made a kick off. After 52 minutes of play, Violaines's Maurice Rocca made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Georges Queguiner was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 57th minute, Claude Labeyrie left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Tanvol fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a rather tough play, Violaines's Philippe Leydier got a free kick in the 61st minute. After having played for 65 minutes, Maurice Rocca managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Violaines's supporters crossed their fingers, but Maurice Rocca was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Claude Labeyrie could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 67th minute of the match, but Jacob Hamy made a huge save. If Ilan Ferretti had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 79th minute, Morgan Naudet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ilan Ferretti sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacob Hamy made an important save on a dangerous shot by Claude Labeyrie in the 88th minute. After a rather tough play, Tanvol's Pacome Villaume got a free kick in the 91st minute. Tanvol's Georges Queguiner played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maurice Rocca in the 94th minute of play.
