Éric Couvert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 5 minutes into the game, Steve Guidet was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Brindas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Penfeld the free kick. After having played for 7 minutes, Marc Lecaille managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Penfeld's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marc Lecaille was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marc Lecaille kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. Éric Couvert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bruce Marcus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 17th match minute, Penfeld was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Marc Lecaille to maneuver through the defense. When Bruce Marcus came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Brindas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bruce Marcus couldn't finish the play. Denis Procureurs short, quick shot in the 33rdth minute got Pacome Meslier to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 38th minute, Denis Procureur got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Penfeld's Jean-Paul Faraut in the 42nd minute got a chance for a shot 42nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Brindas's goalie prevented a goal. Denis Procureur scored 2-0 in the 43rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pacome Meslier, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Bruce Marcus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Éric Couvert having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Teddy Villemin to make the kick off. Denis Procureur fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pacome Meslier having to interfere. If Bruce Marcus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Penfeld's Éric Couvert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teddy Villemin in the 61st minute of play. After 61 minutes of play Penfeld's Marc Lecaille was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Marc Lecaille kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. The supporters of Penfeld booed when Brindas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teddy Villemin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Bruce Marcus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee showed Prosper Le Boulanger the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Brindas getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Prosper Le Boulanger hit a great ball. Christopher Verney's late challenge caught a Brindas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christopher Verney helped the player get up and apologised. After 84 played minutes Penfeld got a freekick which was hit by Christopher Verney. In the game's 85th minute Brindas's Donovan Lucot took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Éric Couvert and thus the score was 3-1. After 92 played minutes Brindas got a freekick which was hit by Steve Guidet. The supporters of Penfeld booed when Brindas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teddy Villemin didn't get a good kick on the ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Penfeld fans cheered their team off the field, for while Brindas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
